First of all check fuses. It is unclear what you mean by door not operating. As far as the window, it is typically the drive gear that falls apart. I have replace 4 of them (both on two separate LSCs). It is not terribly difficult, but it is a little tricky. The door panel has to be removed and if never done before, it will require two holes to be drilled to access the mounting bolts for the window motor. If you are still game for the mission let me know by another post on this question. TKG
Make sure the window lock button is not ON. Simple, I know. But I dissected the passenger door before I figured this out.
If you can operate the window from the driver's side, then you need to replace the switch on the passenger's side. If neither side works you need to replace both switches. You buy the switches at any auto parts store. They are fairly cheap. The cover on the window-control panel can be easily removed. If there are no screws, just pry it up.
The question is: Is this the drivers window switch but it opens the passenger side's window? Who was driving or in the driver's seat. You may have spilled enough beer on the arm rest that leaked into the switch and created a corrosive electrical connection for the window motor/

Yes
Of course not. When was the last time you saw a vehicle without a passenger window.
If you have an accident while cranking open a passenger side window, then you were not safely operating the vehicle and/or could be considered driving while distracted. Laws don't have to be so specific to state each condition that would apply.
There is only one fuse for all power windows. If only the passenger side window does not work, the problem is either with the passenger window switch or the motor on that window.

Check power to window switch. Common cause. Check power to window motor. If none then check fuses/relays.
