A T-Mobile myTouch smart phone is locked to T-Mobile service using a SIM lock. To switch to another carrier, you must unlock the phone. T-Mobile customer service will provide the unlock key code if your account meets certain criteria. Turn the phone off and flip it over. Slide the back towards the phone's bottom edge. Take the battery and the T-Mobile SIM card out. Insert the new carrier's SIM card. Replace the phone's battery and back cover. The phone will ask for a "SIM network unlock PIN". Enter the code provided by T-Mobile and tap the "Unlock" Button.

To unfreeze a phone, you will have to turn the phone off or restart it. You can do this by holding down the power button. If this does not work, you will have to wait for the battery to drain and recharge it.
