which light is it... there are quite a few of them do you have an ODB scanner? you can pick them up for about $50 does the light say "Service required" ...? is it in the instrument cluster or on the middle car information panel
Check any and all O2 sensors would be the first step. There should be one on or around the air filter plumbing check it first it may need to be cleaned, and then change the air filter.
