Press CMD OPT T and select the character from the character viewer.
Click Edit on the top left of the screen and then at the very bottom of the drop down menus choose Special Characters. Drag the character you want into the space where you want it.
The symbol for squared is ², for example, 2 squared would be 2².
You type alt-ctrl and the number 7
Multiply the no. by itself. Ex 5 squared is 25.

The generally accepted way to type powers of a number is by using the carat symbol, or "^." So five to the second power (or squared) is 5^2.

It is the symbol for Current squared. I x I = I2.

on the top right part of the number being squared and remember to make it smaller than the number being squared
There is a shortcut to making ² symbol, and it is Alt0178, which is hold down Alt button and while held down type 0178 numbers then release Alt button. Maybe there are special keyboards that can be bought that have it included; not sure.
