A Christian can know God's will for their life mainly through reading His Word (The Bible) and through prayer. The Holy Spirit speaks to the born-again Christian's spirit (especially if they have the baptism in the Holy Spirit). Also though listening to preachers/teachers and one-on-one discussions/counseling with those who have more wisdom. And from circumstances: like the old saying "When God closes a door, He opens a window". Everything happens for a reason. We learn from mistakes and adversity. What we know is that God's will is for us to live without sinning and to love others as he loves us.
