How do you unlock luigi in super mario64?

After Unlocking the red ! boxes,go to the castle courtyard. Punch the Giant Boo with the cage inside of him to enter Big Boo's Haunt. Obtain the first star by defeating all the Boos to get the staircase. In the 2nd goal, as Mario, go up the stars and into the room with the single bookshelf. Use the Fire Flower to float up to the room above, where you'll find a Luigi painting. Jump through the painting and defeat Big Boo to get Luigi's key.

Complete target practice and board the platforms using all the characters available then luigi will show up beat him and he is unlocked.
Beat the target test and board the platforms practice with the 8 original characters then luigi will appear beat him to unlock him.

You need Mario. Use him to get to the haunted world. Then inside the mansion go up the stairs and turn to your far left and go into that door. Go to the small platform on the ground straight ahead and float up and the straight onto the ledge with the high edge and use the ? marked box to float up there or do a triple jump with him. Up there you will find a picture of Luigi to your left. Go into it. Then you will find yourself in a four door passageway. Now be careful, because if you use the wrong door you start all over again. Go through the door to Mario's right. You will find yourself looking at a platform in the middle of the room, connecting to the four surrounding it's top bottom right and left by a few silver block things. Be careful because the silver block things will fall right after you step on them. Run straight across, and then left, and go through that door. You will find a wobbly platform in the middle of the room, once more with soundings, but this time not connecting. Be careful this time because when your on the edge the whole platform turns with Mario's Weight!!! Go straight and then turn right this time. once more a few platforms surrounding a middle one but not connected. Go straight and turn left. Run straight FAST!!! Now hop the platforms one by one to get to the top. There you will find a chimney. GO into the chimney. You will find Mario in a mirrored room. At first nothing will happen, but then run straight into the mirror and then slowly back away. The mirror Mario will slowly transform into Luigi with a ghost next to him. The ghost will also be on your side but you can't see him. use the mirror ghost king boo and the shadow under the real king boos ghost to tell where he is. Run and kick him three times and he will transform into a key with an L on it. You will attomaticly transport back to the boo playground. Go to the room where Mario, Luigi and Wario are locked up and walk over to Luigi's, and he will be set free.

You need to unlock 8 power stars first. Then, go to The door with the white outline upstairs. Then, run to door acroos from you. Your now in peach's room. You will see the door with 8 on it. Go in. Now, jump into the Mario painting. Defeat Goomboss and he will give you the key. go to the room with the M on it and u will be Mario. its easy. GOOD LUCK!

well when you go to the door with no stars to open it go in it and you should see a big boo

follow it and then when your outside ground pound the big boo then a lantern thingy should appear walk up to it then your in luigis mansion.....i forgot the rest but...you can look up a website called YouTube.and then you type in your question on search bar after clicking on youtube broadcast yourself and click on a video and that's it hope it helped you =)

and run and jump off it either 64, 128 or 2401 times. Then, The big boo will turn into a laser shooting Luigi.

You can't. Luigi isnt a player in the game. The only secret character is Yoshi, available on top of the castle after you get all 120 stars. He will provide you with 100 lives.
