If you mean "how do you use it" in the general sense, you just write it over the stressed letter in a word. If you mean "how do you type the tonos character with a UK or US keyboard", select Greek as your input language and press the ; key before the letter you want. E.g. press ; then a to get ά or ; then y to get ύ and so on. Hope that helps.

The Greek Tonos character, which looks like an acute accent (´), is used in modern Greek to indicate stress on a specific syllable in a word. It is placed over the vowel of the stressed syllable to differentiate the pronunciation and meaning of words that may otherwise look the same but have different stress patterns.

Where did greek theater come from and what purpose did it serve?

The greek drama was born as part of the god Dionysus' worship. So at the beginning it had a great religious and sacramental character. Later, during classical era, when the greek drama came to its complete development and acme, it aquired a more social and political character. Ancient Greeks did not use the word "watch" when they went to a theater, but they used to say that they were "tought". The same term we use today when we talk about the greek drama.
