Place lever on block then click on it. You will need to have a redstone linked up to it for it to do anything.
Rig a dispenser so that it works. make sure to put a pressure plate or lever for use. Put a lot of arrows in the dispenser, then use the lever or pressure plate and arrows will fire out.
Hold shift and then right-click with the lever to place it without interacting with the chest.
well.....on my games i usually need a lever to use them. Of course it's likely just me and you can just use it like a real door

To make a lever, place a stick above a block of cobblestone, in your crafting slot or on a crafting table.

There's no reason why it should. Netherrack ignites when fire is used on it, 'charge' from levers or redstone circuitry does not ignite it.

Iron doors in Minecraft have to be open with redstone mechanics. So to open the door you would have to connect a lever, a pressure plate, or button to the door.
A Redstone Lamp lights up when it is charged. Charged can be supplied by an adjacent button, lever, pressure plate, etc, or as part of an active Redstone Circuit.
