How do you use appliance in a sentence?

Since its root is the verb, "apply", instinct might invite you to use it in a more general fashion, but marketing evolutions have turned it into a somewhat specific noun for the gadgets normally found in homes, such as washers, dryers, toasters, blenders, etc., etc.

"My stove is the most used appliance in my house."

or

"The appliance department stocks nearly all the appliances a home needs."
