Cotton: easy flaming, firing quickly, have the smell of burning paper, showing thin and soft flocculent in dark and grey stuff after burning.
Linen: burning character is similar with cotton, have the smell of burning paper, showing thin and soft flocculent in dark and grey stuff after burning.
Fur: slowly burning after fire, have the burning smell of hair, showing black carbon stuff after burning, easy breaking.
Polyester(Dacron):easy-melting after burning, still continuing burning off the fire, with dense smoke, but melting stuff is not drop off, have fragrance, become hard, dark and round shape after burning.
Acrylic(compound wool): melting and burning , having biting smell, burning stuff showing small dark hard ball shape.
Chinlon(Nylon): fire close to melting, then self-extinguish, having celery smell, showing light tan dark lump after burning.
Fabric fire-proof performance standardGenerally, there are 2 methods for evaluating fabric fire-proof performance1、According to the fabric burning speed: By the regulation method, after fabric contact the flame for a certain period of time, remove the flame, then measure the after flame time, smolder time and the length of damaged fabric. The shorter of after flame, smolder time and damaged length, the better performance the fabric got.2、According to LOI sample test: Oxygen index means oxygen need of fabric burning, the high oxygen index means fabric burning need a high oxygen concentration, that is hard to burn. The volume of oxygen concentration is 21% in air, the fabric belongs to inflammable fiber when burning oxygen index is lower than 20%; it belongs to combustible fiber that oxygen index is between 20% to 26%; it belongs to flame-retardant fiber that oxygen index is between 26% to 34%, it belongs to non-flammable that the oxygen index is higher than 35%.Note. LOI method fit technology process experiment.Common Method of flame-retardant test:1、Burning Test Method: According to relative position of sample and flame, the test can be divided into Vertical Method, 45°Method and Horizontal Method. Until now, horizontal firing, 45℃ firing and the vertical firing are the most commonly used method. When balance the flame retardant property of the fabric, we should specify the test method and the condition and the horizontal firing is the most relaxed method.With the same finished process, test by the 45℃ firing, if the flame can not burn through the fabric immediately in the fabric and the fire will increase and spread to the around. The flame retardant property is bad. When test by vertical firing, if the fabric after burning can form the expansive carbon residue, which can be in favor of the flame spread up and get good flame retardant property.As the the 45℃ firing, we suggest to use the molten drop flame retardant chemicals, which is in favor of burning through in short time.
