The door of the plane wasn't even fully open yet, when my breath was taken from me. The air rushed in and pushed against my face. I put my head down trying to catch as many small breaths as I could. The door of the plane is now wide open and I'm having second thoughts with every step I take it brings me that much closer to the open door. With one more step to go and a little jump forward. I new once my feet left the floor of the plane. There was no turning back for me. I turned my head to look at the young soldier that was trying desperately to remain on his feet as the air rush in. I gave him a half smile and a salute. I turn my head back towards the open door, took my one last step gave a little jump and began my free fall to earth. I watch the meter on my wrist and in the few seconds before I pulled the string to open my parachute. One single thought went through my mind. Here is my chance out of this mission, just don't pull the string. But as a soldier I was not going to give up that easily. I pulled the string the parachute opened and with in a minute or two my feet were back on the ground. I undid the pack sack the parachute was in and let it fall to the ground. As I stood here looking around at this desolating disaster they call drop zone 4. I know you were looking for just a sentence, but I hope this helps you out a bit. If not it is the starting of a really good book, so maybe you can finish it. I'm dying to know.
