Judging by the category of the question, I assume you are talking about the 3GS. The 3GS is GSM only and it is physically impossible to use most other American networks since the only other GSM is T-Mobile, and it uses AWS bandwidth and the iPhone can only access it's slow EDGE network, but even that requires a SIM Card.
I am pretty sure that all American carriers selling the iPhone use monthly plans for data, text, and minutes.
When you switch off the 3G and cellular data in your iPhone 5 you get no service signal because of the poor signal provider.
Contact the service provider you wish to be with for it to get the plan.
The iPhone is only available for AT&T and yes, there is an iPhone-specific data plan that is required. iPhone's that have been "unlocked" can be used with other carriers such as T-Mobile or Verizon, but even then an extremely large to unlimited data plan would be required (otherwise, you would have a LOT of overage charges since the iPhone is connected to the internet at all times).
Yes, it is free. Where you use data is when you stream movies and videos.
No The iphone does not have conventional GPS. However it does use cell signal to approximate location. This service is free as long as you have the iphone data package.
No. Verizon requires a data plan for iPhones.
Straight Talk is dependent on one of the 4 major US carriers for voice and data services. If you choose and AT&T sim from Straight Talk, your service will be the same as AT&T service. You can check out different carriers coverage maps to decided which has better coverage in your area.
You can use the Iphone without a bundled plan but it will end up costing you more. You will have to pay for data by the MB which is always more expensive then getting an amount in a data plan.
If you have a legal iPhone with ATT service then you already have an unlimited data plan, as the iPhone is not offered without one.
not anymore. all carriers force you to but a data plan with a 3g/4g phone
