Vinegar is good for cooking as indicated above. It has many flavors and varieties. but it has a lot of other uses too. A cup or mug of apple Cider vinegar with a couple drops of liquid soap in it traps and kills fruit flies very effectively, and safely.
Cider vinegar also soothes rashes and sunburns.
Microwave a mug of white vinegar for 1 minute, let sit for 30 minutes, and then wipe down the inside of the microwave with a 3:1 vinegar:water solution to remove odors (I've done this after a near-fire in mine).
You've probably heard of the vinegar/baking soda drain cleaner. Pour baking soda down a slow running drain. Top off with regular salt (helps keep the mixture moving downward instead of back up, though some will still foam up). Pour vinegar over it slowly. Can also do it every couple weeks/months (depending on how often the drain is used) to maintain the drain. It's more natural than commercail drain cleaners, and helps keep your drain and pipes from smelling bad.
Vinegar is an excellent natural fabric softener (and again, odor neutralizer). One cup of white vinegar in a regular wash will help soften clothes better than commercial softeners (which work by "greasing" the fabric). And again, it's natural, not chemical. You can also use it on things that you can't use softener on, like microfiber fleece.
It also removes odors (and despite it's strong smell, doesn't leave a lingering scent). Among odors it will cut are urine (which if you've had kids or pets that had accidents you'll know can be a pain to get out).
Honestly, there are far too many for me to list them all. Check out the related links for more information. (obviously there will be some repeats and overlaps)
