If you have: "Show these items on the desktop:" in the Finder Preferences enabled then you should be able to see the disk and click on it to open it. If it's a video disk then DVDPlayer should start it up, if it's a music CD then iTunes should start it up.
If it doesn't automatically start up then you can go to System Preferences/ CD&DVD's and select what you want to start the disk up with when you insert it or you can start up one of the programs and click on Edit and select Open.. then navigate to the disk.
Most do, but the Macbook pro with Retina Display does not.
CD's, DVD's NO BLURAY
Your CD/DVD player is a Read Only Memory drive.
If your Macbook Pro has a DVD/CD drive just insert the game CD in the drive and follow the directions. If you do not have a DVD/CD drive you will need to copy the game to a flash drive or use an external DVD/CD drive to install it. Of course the game will have to be Mac compatible or it will not run on a Mac.
The DVD drive in a MacBook Pro can burn Audio CD, Data CD, and DVD disks. It will not burn Blu-Ray disks. Types of writes: CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
MacBook Pro is the best you can get
Detailed instructions for doing this are here: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/MacBook-Pro/SuperDrive/85/6 however this will void your warranty if you are not an apple certified technician.
