well not really, but if you want to you could buy a nextar or download visual basic then you could learn +cc and you could override the controls and use a head set to record.

I usually Just let the charge Die I have a Coby Mp3 player and when it freezes I just leave it alone for a couple hours until it automatically turns off

A Coby MP3 player, depending on which one you purchase can cost as low as $20. A word of caution on Coby products, though. Unlike most companies, Coby only offers a 90 day warranty and many people have problems after the 90 days. Save up some money and buy a player with a better warranty.
