If the ignition coil on a 1973 VW Beetle is hot to the touch, it may indicate a problem, such as overheating due to excessive current draw or a potential short circuit. It's advisable to inspect the coil and related electrical components for damage or malfunction. If the coil is consistently hot, it may need to be replaced.
