The best method is with Duct Tape, but plastic bags work in a pinch too.
If you're waterproofing sandals, I'm assuming they're made of leather or some material that you don't want to get wet, in which case duct tape and plastic bags are not a good solution, since you probably want your sandals to look good. So, try a waterproofing spray, like Nikwax or mink oil. They will waterproof your sandals without changing how they look.

∙ 10y agoBee's Wax Sno-Seal, as long at there is no elastic on sides that water can get thru. Or Mink Oil works extremley well. If you are brave, I put Bee's Wax on my new boots and put in the oven at 150 for a half hour, not only does it soften the leather by soaking the wax and oils in it also helps reduce break in period but best of all makes them completely waterproof. Again as long as there is no elastic like on a slip on 6".
