Go to Hazy Maze Cave where the monster is swimming around. There is a ledge with a double door and a red platform that's too high to jump to. Get on the monster's head and ride him to the platform. Past the doors, there's a portal that looks just like the one you used to get into Hazy Maze Cave. Go into it. You'll be metal Mario for a short time when you get in. Go down to the end of the corridor and turn LEFT (not right; you'll end up outside the castle.) There's a green switch a ways to the left. Stomp on it and you'll be able to get metal caps from green blocks.
