it actlly all depends on which head you have...but regardless always roll spool putting the line on it, don't roll the line, but the spool, keeps the line able to come off when bumping, if you wind the line around the spool it will normally melt and prevent it from feeding.

This is actually easier than it first appears. # Line up the two arrows on the outer-spool and inner-reel. # ## This opens the channels from the feed-holes to the locking holes. # Remove any line left in the locking holes. # Feed new line into feed holes up though the channels until you have enough to place the ends of the lines into the locking holes. # Place line ends into the locking holes and pull tight. # Wind the inner-reel counter-clockwise, taking up the new line. Pause occasionally to pull each line tight. Leave about 4 inches at each end.

Now, find the arrow on the spool. wrap the line in the same direction as this arrow. You want to wrap it snug, not too tight. Now, put the free end throug the hole on the other part of the spool holder. Put the spool in the holder, making sure not to get the eline tangled with anything. Once it is in then put the bottom piece back on. That is it. It takes practice. It took some cursing at it and condeming it to hell a few times until I got it. Take your time. Good luck. Brad.
How do you string an Echo weed eater?
I have an Echo Straight Shaft Weed Eater 2cycl 21.2cc. I am having trouble restringing it! The instructions show to line up the head with the arrows which i did then to push one end through one end out the other! One of the problems is the String doesn't want to come out the other end! With Needle Nose Pliers I was able to get the other end out. then i pulled it out making both end equal. then it says to hold the head and turn clock wise the top part of the head! The problem is it will not wind up the line? I tried it and started all over again by pulling the line out and restringing it again still it won't pull the string into the head! What am i doing wrong? What do I need to do? This is suppose to be easy! But I can't seem to get it! I am frustrated and not able to use my weedeater! Thank you for your Help Sincerely robert
