10/3 wire with 30 amp double pole breaker from panel box to water heater.
When the neutral wire goes to the switch
If you are adding the pull chain to an existing fixture then the pull chain switch should have two wires. Wire nut either one to the hot wire coming in and the other to the black wire of the fixture.
Wire is the transition material used to carry the electric current; the switch is the controller of that current.
copper?
it makes sure the heater is shut down BEFORE the pump does. It is very important if the heater runs without the pump running the water will boil in the lines and burn out the heater. I know this because my electrician didnt wire mine correctly and that's what happened to me. BYE BYE 2,500 heater
If a malfunction occurred there is the possibility of electricity entering the pool. Therefore, the bond wire should always be attached.
Run a new ignition switch controlled "hot" wire directly to fan motor
fuse, wire, switch, resistor, fan motor, ground, etc.
Bonding in swimming pool language is the use of a number 8 gage wire connecting all metal parts. That #8 bonding wire starts with the wire cage or re-bar in the pool shell. It continues to the grab rail, if there is one, then to the pool light, metal rope hooks, if they are present, to the pump, the heater, the time clock etc. It is sometimes what some people would call a double ground wire or redundant ground. k
From Den052 auto mechanic easiest way is to go to junkyard and remove part of the harness and maybe the switch if it is still good. Splice and replace as necessary. Keep in mind, check heater motor draws too much amperage and will burn out new switch. Usually the case!!!!!!!! Install new heater motor too (real common problem).
does a water heater require a ground wire?
If it is a 2-wire switch- yes If it is a 3-wire switch- no
Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel.Remove the four screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.Pull the A/C-heater control away from the instrument panel far enough to access the connections on the back of the control.Disconnect the vacuum harness from the A/C-heater control.Disconnect the wire harness connectors from the A/C-heater control and remove the blower switch......
You have a short in the wire to the heater or the heater is no good, easy way to check with a ohm meter is to pull wire off heater (at the heater) and do a ohms check from the wire to ground (metal part of car). If it shows 0 or near 0 then you have a shorted wire if it shows open then its the heater that bad!
you have a bare wire touching on your blower motor
Wire the switch to the hot/black lead.
