You need an extra piece of wire of the same size with the right length to make up the shortfall. This has to be joined reliably with a good electrical connection on the end of the existing wire. It can then be connected to the switch.

Ideally you would replace the wire with a new appropriate length. In some cases this may be mandatory.
Where it is not mandatory you can splice in an extra length.

How do you fix a light switch after two live wires touch?

There has to be more to this question for a good answer. For the most part a light switch has two contacts, with a wire at each one. One live wire and another going to the light itself. There is also a neutral wire return (from the light to the electrical panel). There is only one live wire in any electrical circuit. [Please, don't flame me with examples of multiple electrical sources in circuitry. We're talking about home lighting.] If somehow you shorted the live wire from the switch to the electrical box (ground) or to another wire in the box, it was only momentary and you can just proceed with replacing the switch. It's a good idea to turn off the power first.

How short circuit occurs if the switch is off?

You have the hot wire touching ground or common on the input side of the switch.

How do you wire a 20A switch which comes with a neutral wire when only 2 wires are available for the circuit?

You never switch a neutral wire, only hots. hooking both hot and neutral to the same switch will result in a short when the swith is turned on.

How do you add a wall switch?

An electrical supply must be accessed and a wire fished to the fixture box. Do not attempt unless you are knowledgeable in electrical matters.

What happens if neutral and hot wire touch on the same pole of a light switch?

You will get a short circuit and breaker will trip. If they are tied together on the load side of the switch the short will happen when you turn the switch on.

What is a short to voltage in an automobile?

A short to voltage is when a wire that should not have battery voltage has battery voltage. This would happen if a wire had rubbed through another wire. The other cause would be an electrical component failing and sending voltage down a wire that it shouldn't. NOTE: Shorts to voltage are very uncommon. I specialize in electrical automotive repair, and I can not even recall one time I have seen a short to voltage.
