If you have silver colored wire in the wall, it is aluminum. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, call an electrician. Aluminum will react with copper and wiring devices made for copper, so special hardware is required. Aluminum has problems with heating at bad connections, and has caused many house fires. Usually it' will be white connects to silver. If you follow it through, or use a continuity tester you'll see that the silver wire connects to the outer ring of the light sockets (for a light) or neutral for other circuits. "Usually" it is the odd color to black. If using lamp cord which can be white, black, brown, or clear, one of the strands can be different color. If for a light, it really doen't matter as long as you keep track of which is which. Generally you would go by the insulation color. There are exceptions to this rule so it helps to know where the power is coming from and where you want it to go. All wire is copper colored, the different one, silver, would go to black. In wiring, it is usually the "different" one that goes to black, but again, this is not a hard and fast rule.
When you come across this combination of mismatched wires, the normal matching is black to brown, white to blue, and green or bare to yellow green. There is often a diagram on the motor that will indicate which wires are hot, neutral, and ground.
There are dozens of methods and products available to "connect

There are four wire pairs in CAT 5 cable. (Orange&White Orange, Blue&White Blue, Green&White Green, Brown&White Brown) Not in order of use
You'll need to refer to the manufacturers specifications for exact information, HOWEVER... many times a multi-speed motor will use a white wire as common and the three additional wires allow you to select the operation speed when you connect one of them to the "hot" line.
Almost all colors. There are white and black mushrooms. There are also mushrooms that are just plain white. Some mushrooms are light brown. Others are darker brown.
black wire is hot wire .And the white is the common or white is ground. Depends on what your talking about in an outlet or car battery. In a outlet the ground wire is green or bare copper. neutral is red and hot is black (I remember it by hot can kill you so black is death) if I am not mistaken. As for a car battery i think it's the opposite red is hot and black is neutral.
There are 8 wires, or 4 pairs. That being orange & white orange, green & white green, blue & white blue, brown & white brown.
