I have a 1983 GMC Sierra it has no dash, tail lights an brake lights are very dim
What I did was take the mirrors off the aftermarket mirror's, remove the motor and four wire connection. Take off the stock power mirrors, removed the mirrors, took out the stock motors and wire harness. Installed the stock motors and wire harness into the aftermarket mirrors. Plugged the wire harness back in, wired up the lights and turn indicators on the mirrors and they are working just fine.

The tow bar comes with a color coded wiring harness. The tail lights, blinkers, and brake lights are hooked up to a terminal near the trailer hitch of the towing vehicle and then the tow lights are plugged into the socket for the car lights. There are four wires. The brown is the brake lights, the green and black are blinker lights, and the white wire is the ground wire.
Most commonly, trailer harnesses have four wires. The white wire goes to ground; the brown wire is for tail lights and sidemarkers; the yellow and green wires are for the left and right blinkers and stop lights (not sure which color goes to which side, but you can experiment before you splice the wires).
Take a light tester and check the pins at the truck side trailer plug. With the truck set for running lights check for power at the pins. If there is power then there is a loose or bad wire on the trailer side. If there is no power then there is a power problem on the truck side.
for what system are you needing? lights, interior, exterior??? Sorry, I am new to this, I need a schematic for the heated mirrors for a 2003,04,05 Super Duty. I am trying to put them on my '99, but can't get the side lights to light. How are they powered?
That wire is for kick down gear or passing gear.
Perhaps fixing the ground wire for the passenger side on the 2000 Chevy S-10 will require that the driver's side ground wire also be fixed in order to have the brake lights work properly. There has to be a short somewhere in the wiring for the lights to go off.
Wire tap it to the wire of the lens that's on the side of the bumper. Or just connect the copper and wrap it in electrical tape.
A loose or bad ground wire can do that.
A four-wire harness kit has 1 white wire that connects to ground; 1 brown wire that illuminates the side markers and the tail lights; 1 green and 1 yellow wire, they are for the right and left signal lights and brake lights (I don't remember which color goes to which side, but you can experiment before you splice).
