Also, the answer to your question depends on whether you want it written in kana or kanji. There are two types of kana (hiragana and katakana). Kana is a phonetic "alphabet" while kanji are characters borrowed by the Chinese. Even then, the kanji character that you would use to write RYU would depend on the meaning. RYU can mean different things which means that it can be represented using very different kanji. It is not dissimilar to the English concept of homonyms... words that sound the same but are spelled differently and mean different things... such as sale/sail... write/right/rite.
