LOL! I don't think any modern publisher would even look at a new story starting "Once upon a time"! Nor ending with the bad one winning.
I can though relate an amusing anecdote from a friend who teaches surgical nursing.
One of her students was from Africa, where he'd had to teach himself English by his own efforts. Full marks to him, especially as almost the only material he could find was old children's stories. My friend told me it took a while and some diplomacy to persuade him one does not start formal lab reports and essays on medical procedures with "Once upon a time..."!
