If it's a plastic cup, use a sharpie or paint. Waterproof ink will not be rubbed off a cup once dry, so a waterproof marker could be used.
If it's a glass cup, you can still use a sharpie and let it sit for a couple days. Alternatively, glass or ceramic cups can be written on using special glass paint, which will adhere even to the smooth surface of a cup.
Not sure about the "army" part of your question, but the easiest way to write in the active voice is to "blame" your subject for the action. So, instead of "the cup was broken by Bob" (passive voice), write, "Bob broke the cup."
When referring to yourself it is a capitial 'I' as in "Can I have a cup of tea, please?" It should not be "Can i have a cup of tea, please?"
