How does Allah choose a miracle for each nation?

A miracle is chosen by Allah & only by Him. Allah supported His prophets with miracles as proof for their prophesy and to convince their people to believe in the message of the prophets or the Messengers. Some Messengers had more than one miracle, but all in all the number, the type,the situation & anything related to the miracle is specified only by Allah so there is no rule for miracles. But generally, each Messenger had mostly a miracle in the field that His nation was skilled at & famous for. Examples:

1. Salih PBUH was sent to Thamud who lived in Mada'in Salih(Arab people who lived in an area between Hijaz & Palestine) they have lived in stone houses carved into mountains & they were great in carving & architecture. Allah says:

" The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the apostles:. We sent them Our Sings, but they persisted in turning away from them. . Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure..But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, .And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! "

( Holy Quran : Chapter 15 :verses 80-84 ) Al-Hijr (Stoneland, Rock City)

-Salih PBUH made a real alive she-camel by carving into stone & that was His miracle. Allah says : " And O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a symbol to you: leave her to feed on Allah's (free) earth, and inflict no harm on her, or a swift penalty will seize you!" ( Holy Quran : Chapter 11 : verse 64 )Hud

-Despite the instruction, the Thamud slaughtered the camel because of their rebellion, so Allah ordered Saleh to leave them, then they were punished with a large thunderous sound that destroyed the Thamud.

2. The main miracle of Mousa " Moses" PBUH was His rod which was transformed into a real snake, active in motion by Allah's leave when He threw it.His nation was famous for their proficiency in magic. Allah says :

" ((Allah)) said, "Throw it, O Moses!. He threw it, and behold! It was a snake, active in motion.. ((Allah)) said, "Seize it, and fear not: We shall return it at once to its former condition"

( Holy Quran : Chapter 20 : verses 19-21 ) Ta Ha

3. Isa "Jesus" PBUH was sent to a nation famous for advanced level of medicine.

Some of His miracles are mentioned in the following Quran verse:

"And (appoint him) an apostle to the Children of Israel, (with this message): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe"

(Holy Quran:Chapter 3 :verse 49 )Al 'Imran (The Family Of 'Imran, The House Of Imran)

4. Muhammad PBUH is the last prophet & consequently His main miracle is everlasting which is the Holy Quran. Allah says:

" Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! "

( Holy Quran : Chapter 52: verses 33-34 ) At-Tur (The Mount of Revelation)

This challenge is forever & no one could dare to face this Miracle since Muhammad's time & forever, Arabs or non Arabs. Allah says:

" Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support."

( Holy Quran : Chapter 17 : verse 88) Al-Isra' (The Night Journey, Children Of Israel)
