There is no standard time in Antarctica.

Science stations or bases essentially choose a time zone, which is usually coordinated with their home country. This coordination is necessary because supervisors and commissioners who direct and manage scientific work in the Antarctic work in the home country and not in Antarctica.

It is important, however, that everyone who works in a particular station or base use the same time zone as everyone else working there.

I think most if not all of the stations there keep their clocks in sync with the place from which they get their supplies.

I know that Casey Time recently changed from UTC+11 hours to UTC+8 hours.

Here's what I have:

  • French Southern & Antarctic Time (TFT) = UTC + 5 hours
  • Mawson Time (MAWT) = UTC + 5 hours
  • Davis Time (DAVT) = UTC + 7 hours
  • Casey Time (CAST) = UTC + 8 hours
  • Ross Dependency: New Zealand Standard Time/ New Zealand Daylight Saving Time (NZST/NZDT) = UTC +12/+13 hours

If you were standing in the middle of the north pole would you be standing in twenty four different time zones?

No, you wouldn't be standing in any time zones. As all lines of longitude, and hence all time zones, converge on that spot. Plus the fact that the Sun only rises and sets once a year there, so in fact a day at the North Pole could be said to last a year.
