Anubis looked like a man with the head of a jackal-like animal. Unlike a real jackal, Anubis' head is black, representing his position as a god of the dead. He is rarely shown fully-human, but he is depicted so in the Temple of Abydos of Rameses II. There is a beautiful statue of him as a full jackal in the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Anubis of Egyptian myth did not speak of it, so we do not know.
Anubis was a ancient Egpytian god, not a "pharaoh" or "king" of ancient Egpyt. Anubis was most often depicted as a man with the head of a jackal-like animal. Unlike a real jackal, Anubis' head is black, representing his position as a god of the dead. He is rarely shown fully-human, but he is depicted so in the Temple of Abydos of Rameses II. There is a beautiful statue of him as a full jackal in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
The ancient Egyptian god Anubis cared for the dead.
Anubis was the Egyptian god of death. When a person died, they would go to a version of Limbo. There, they would be judged by Anubis. The person's heart and a feather would be put on opposite sides of a scale. If the heart weighed more, the person was judged as a bad person. If the feather weighed more, the person was good. Anubis knew everything that a person did in their life. It was useless to lie to Anubis to make yourself look like a good person.
