3 simple steps to create own exclusive beautiful crackle nail.I am no expert on nail polish, but I do know how a crackle finish is achieved with woodworking. A slow drying undercoat is applied to a surface. A fast drying lacquer of a contrasting color is applied on top of it. The top coat dries immediately, and as the slow-drying undercoat hardens, the top coat "cracks" into a pattern. I am guessing - and it is a guess, I admit - that the principle is the same with nail polish.

Crackle nail polishOnly works on top of other nail polish(Doesn't work on just your nail or other surfaces/fake nails without a nail polish under it.)
You can't just use the crackle nail polish because there has to be another polish under it. its like crackle paint for walls, the chemicals react with the normal nail polish in order to make the crackle effect.
Crackle nail polish basically has alchohol in iit. The alcohol makes the nail polish crackle, because of the chemicals in it. Crackle nail polish can also be done at home. Materials: 1) 1 bottle of nail polish (colored nail polish perferred) 2) 1 bottle of alcohol Procedure: Step 1) open the bottle of nail polish Step 2) open alchol, and poor 1 cap of alcohol into 1 bottle of nail polish Step 3) shake up the nail polish Step 4) apply to nails with nail polish on it. It takes a few secs to start to crackle. And wala! There u go homemade crackle nail polish!! ;)

The manufacturers add a solvent (ethanol) to the polish that makes the crackle layer dry quickly and unevenly. Curiously, this is the opposite of the way "normal" nail polish should work, as it should dry smoothly and evenly. This answer is from a different question site.
After you put the regular nail polish on then wait for it to dry then you put the crackle on and as it drys it will crackle.
crackle ;0
yes because it makes it show up better.
Yes, it works on any nails so long as you have a base coat of another color so that your crackle polish will stick to it and have the desired crackling effect.
