He wanted to put unreasonable offers towards the wood that was very valuable, that the animals had found. He finally offers to give a proper deal and quickly he pays and gets the wood. The animals friend (kinda), the human, Whymper, said that they were infact FORGED! "Frederick had got the timber for nothing!" The animals are upset and a death sentence is passed by Napoleon.

Napoleon sells the timber to Frederick. Frederick wanted to pay bu cheque, but Napoleon demanded cash, which the other animals later inspected.

Frederick cheated Napoleon by giving him fake money for the timber that was sold, making Napoleon look like a fool.
At the end of chapter eight, Frederick is acquired by Napoleon.

Napoleon fist come into contact with Frederick and Pilkington when they try to take over animal farm. Later he would begin to trade with his neighbors.

Yes, but the animals are uncomfortable about this fact because Mr. Frederick (who represents Germany) is a human. At first, Napoleon is against Frederick and changes the slogan from "Death to Humanity" to "Death to Frederick". He later changes it to "Death to Pilkington" without warning.

Mr. Frederick offers Napoleon a check in exchange for the timber but Napoleon tells him he wants more than a check, and so Mr. Frederick gives him "5 pounds of checks". Unfortunetly, the animals later find out that the checks that were given in exchange for the timber was all forgery, and was worth nothing.
