He was able to bring Lazarus back to to life. This means He is the giver of life.
because may be 1) reveals by the Father that Jesus is the Messiah, 2) intuitively know that Jesus is the long waited Messiah, 3) Jesus told him he is the Messiah or show him some miracles to him and he instantly believe Jesus is the Messiah 4) he had a dream last night that today he will meet the Messiah 5) Philip believed the testament of John the baptist who said that Jesus is the Messiah, I think he is one of the most faithful disciple of John the baptist. Jesus saw his total faith that Philip believed that he is the Messiah, therefore Jesus choose him.
The Law of Moses was given as a preparation for the coming of Messiah, which we know now is Jesus Christ. The Law was given to show their sin and their need of a Savior.
Each gospel was written to a different audience for a different reason. Matthew was written to the Jews to show that he was the promised Messiah. Mark was written to the Romans. Luke was written to the Greeks. John was written to show the divinity of Jesus. While the four gospels appear quite similar, deeper study reveals great differences in the message.
The Hebrew word Messiah means "the anointed". In earlier times, kings were anointed to show that they were accepted as rightful kings of Judah; the practice was also followed when high priests were appointed. The Greek translation of Messiah is Christ. After the Babylonian Exile ended the Judahite monarchy, the expectation grew that, one day, a new leader would come and would lead Judah to military victory over its enemies. This leader would be anointed and would be known as the Messiah. The Gospels have Jesus saying he was the Messiah, or Christ, not as the military leader that most Jews expected, but a spiritual Messiah who would lead his people to a spiritual victory.
The Gospels were written to record the life and teachings of Jesus by eyewitnesses or those who were given the testimony of eyewitnesses. They are written to show how Jesus was not just another man, but God's Son and the promised Messiah who rose from the dead.
Jesus' baptism was to show his agreement of John's baptism, and testify that John's baptizing was of God. Also that He himself might receive a testimony both from heaven, and from John, that He was the Son of God and true Messiah, before he entered upon his public ministry.
Matthew begins his gospel by presenting the lineage of Jesus. The genealogy shows that Jesus is a legal descendant of David through the royal line. Matthew uses many Old Testament prophecies ( eg Zech 9:9 Isaiah7:14 ) to show that Jesus is the King of Israel and the promised messiah, therefore showing that Jesus is the Messiah-King of Israel. Matthew introduces the phrase "the King of the Jews in chapter 2:1-2, at the beginning of Jesus' life when magi from the east arrive in Jerusalem and ask "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?" The phrase is also used again at the end of Jesus' life during His trial and crucifixion "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." The book of Matthew makes more mentions of the "kingdom of heaven" of "kingdom of God" than any of the other Gospels. Jesus repeatedly proclaims the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and tells many parables about the kingdom
His own words to the Jewish authorities show that he is the Messiah. And they did not believe him so they crucified him. Read it in Matthew 26.63 - But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
If you believe that Jesus is God - Jesus must have put the star to show where he was born! If you believe that Jesus is a Prophet - then God must have put the star to show where Jesus was born.
High priests of Israel didn't wanted to lose their power so they acted as if Jesus was some kind of fool trying to take over the country. They ran and tell the roman governor (that was the one really ruling this province at the time since the king was just there for show) and told him that Jesus was a threat. The people of Israel, though, was expecting a messiah. Some of them gathered in the city of Massada and created some kind of a cult. Those were the hardcore messiah a waiters. Others chose do follow St John Baptist who was, at the time, baptizing people in the river. When Jesus came, St J-B chose to follow him as the real messiah and so did all the outcast of Israel (poor people, cripples, prostitutes...) because he was and still is a source of hope for those who have to face a hard time. At this time christianity was just a branch of judaism and it was only a little bit later that judaism split in two : one part acknowledging Jesus as their lord and saviour and the other sticking to the old prophets.
you show that you have accepted JESUS by following HIM....................
Matthew includes several Old Testament quotes in his gospel, such as prophecies from Isaiah, Psalms, and other books. These quotes are used to show how Jesus fulfills the scriptures and to emphasize his role as the Messiah.
