The two men, the Duke and the Dauphin, reveal themselves as frauds when they steal money from the townspeople by pretending to be long-lost relatives. Huck and Jim initially believe their lies, but start to see through their deception as they witness their unethical behavior.
Huck sneaks out at night to be free from the constraints of society and to experience adventures. He wants to have the freedom to explore the world on his own terms, away from the rules and expectations that govern his life during the day.

Jim and Huck got separated when they were traveling down the Mississippi River on a raft. They were separated during a foggy night while trying to avoid a steamboat. Huck ends up on the shore with a family who mistakes him for their long-lost son, and Jim is captured and taken back into slavery.
Tom, Joe, and Huck went to the graveyard that night to carry out their plan of finding a cure for warts by witnessing a dead man's shadow. This adventure sparked a series of events that led to an encounter with Injun Joe and the discovery of treasure.
During the Fog Scene when Huck lies to Jim about his "dream", Jim shows Huck how Huck's actions hurt his feelings. Due to the racial differences between the two, Jim cannot directly punish Huck so instead, Jim allows Huck to realize his mistake on his own and Huck eventually apologize to Jim. This is,in a way, the punishment but it also becomes a life lesson for Huck's journey of coming to age.
In the book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Huck's father dies. Jim finds him when he and Huck are floating down the river on a raft. They find a floating house and inside Jim find the dead body of Huck's father.
