Luke Chapter 3 describes John the Baptist preparing the way for Jesus by preaching a message of repentance and baptizing people in the Jordan River. John urges people to live a life of righteousness and warns of the impending judgment. The chapter also includes the genealogy of Jesus, tracing his lineage back to Adam.
The gospel author who traces Jesus' lineage back to Adam is Luke, in the Gospel of Luke chapter 3.
A:The Book of Genesis Certainly does portray Cain as the first-born of Adam, but Luke chapter 3 is not a list of who were the first-born in each generation. It is Luke's version of the genealogy of Jesus, back through his father (as was supposed) Joseph and the male line to Adam. Since Genesis says that all mankind is descended from Seth, Luke does not mention Cain.
