There was a fight between him and Tybalt and Romeo got in the middle to stop Mercutio and take him home. But, Tybalt's sword goes under romeo's arm and stabs Mercutio. Basically, Mercutio gets stab by Tybalt.

∙ 13y agoTybalt challenges Romeo to a duel but Romeo refuses. Mercutio fights for him and when Romeo goes to break up the fight, Tybalt stabs Mercutio and kills him. But Mercutio Doesn't die straight away, Benvoilio carries him to a house while Mercutio is shouting 'A PLAGUE ON BOTH YOUR HOUSES!!' after that he dies.
