She didn't follow anything that he said and she instead listened to the suitors. Penelope liked Melantho and she was her favorite maid. Telemachus executes the maids because they were disloyal and had consorted with the suitors who were trying to take over his household. Their betrayal was seen as a direct challenge to his authority and a violation of the societal norms of the time. By punishing them, Telemachus asserts his control and restores order to his home.
