Wikipedia receives much of its money from the Wikimedia Foundation which hosts fundraisers, and receives contributions, donations, from the public and private sponsors. But Wikipedia is a non-profit organization, so it doesn't actually "make money" it only receives it to cover expenses of keeping the organization running. Their complete annual financial statement is published in the related link below.
Wikipedia is financed through donations from readers for the most part. However some corporations do help out with donations. Most of the people that work at Wikipedia are also volunteers, so that cuts down on the budget that is needed for salaries.
