Elephants cry, when they are giving birth, dying, being born, got a serious injury. But I am not completely sure

ADDENDUM:

Elephants cry in response to strong emotion, most particularly grief, loss, and joy. They feel these emotions, just like we humans do.

I think that many elephants may very well be sad, because human beings have destroyed so much of their natural habitat and have killed so many elephants in order to take their valuable tusks, however, elephants do not actually have human expressions on their faces. A resemblance between an elephant face and the face of a sad human is purely coincidental.

i heard from person that elephants show emotion by doing funeral for their family or their member. and they grab some straws and put it on the elephant's body and leave. (it's not exactly)
