when you use an air conditioning unit set it to power save. It'll run til the room temperature is cool enough then shut off so its not running for a long period of time and running up your electric bill, then when the room is warmer again it'll turn back on to cool it off again. I use it all the time and i've noticed a big change in my electric bill.
