There is no spring caliper.
A dial caliper give a measure on the needle of a dial. Digital shows you a number.
A caliper that measures inside cylinders and similar things.
A caliper is more accurate.

Remove caliper, then caliper mounting frame. Works on most vehicles.
The knuckle could be heli-coiled if the damage is not too bad. If the stripped threads are on the caliper, replace the caliper.
Silicone caliper grease works well.
On the back of the caliper there should be a bolt its a 14mm you take it out and inside there is a bolt also its Allen key you use and Allen key and retract the caliper. it works on all 626 from 1994 till 2002
Usually you can take a block of wood and a C clamp and that usually works on any caliper, I have even taken the caliper completely off and used the handle of a hammer by putting the handle inside the caliper piston and applying downward force. However im having trouble compressing mine now.

3/8 inch Allen, a socket Allen works the best
first try bleeding the lines, as you may have gotten air in the brake lines. second, you could take out the piston out of the brake caliper and put it back together, checking that it works.
With a caliper rewind tool. It is a key that fits into the notches or grooves on the caliper piston. Mine is about an inch cube with different configurations for model/car/year and works with a 3/8" drive ratchet. Can't recall for certain, but I believe you press and turn counter-clockwise.
You can find an inexpensive tool at your local auto parts. This works best.
