I'm 99% positive that camels make large pits in the sand to lay in, and typically turn their body and face away from the direction of the storm.

a camel can survive up to 2 hours without sand
eating by storm is a storm in which you eat. i.e geese feathers and the beak of a mongoose are highly predictable in a sand storm NOT knowing weather the camel is going to make it but the horse knows that the troll will. As a keen runner and enthusist of the meat eating the rat will go far.
To protect their eyes, the same as humans. however camels have 2 sets of eyelashes so that their eyes are properly protected during sand storms etc.
