by decreasing the amount of input force needed to pull the latch
A metal doorknob
it's all down to fricton, the rougher the surface the harder it is to pull.
Yes it does make it easier by using a fulcrum Yes it does make it easier by using a fulcrum

its not programed to be unelectrical ? thats why you have to make sure after they put the door and doorbell in ?
A metal doorknob
I have dealt with this problem before at our bodyshop. Basically, a spring inside the latch has broke, and now there is no way to release the latch, even by manually pulling on the release lever at the latch. Prepare to replace the latch, as it is not repairable. Be prepared to be working inside the car. To make it easier to work, unbolt the seat, and remove from the car. Remove the door panel, and also the door handle. You will have to chisel at the plastic part of the latch, and break it off bit by bit. Eventually you will be able to release the latch. good luck
The actuator (part of the latch) in one door has failed. The actuator (part of the latch) in one door has failed.
Often the latch has been closed and the door won't catch until the latch is popped back. Use a screwdriver or other tool, make sure the door is unlocked then operate the inside door handle and open the latch lever with the screwdriver.
replace door latch
You could certainly shape a doorknob from cheese. It would not be very durable and would attract vermin.
Check that the latch is working. With the door open, Push the latch back with a screwdriver, & make sure it is holding in the closed position. If it does not hold closed the lock or inner door actuating mechanism may be faulty & would possibly need to be replaced. If it does hold closed, it should be just a matter of adjusting the striker plate.
remove the door panel and make sure that the rod that goes to the latch is hooked up
The door ajar switch on a 1993 Mercury Topaz is located in the door latch. The switch is triggered by the top hook of the latch. If the problem is having to frequently slam the door a second time to make the seat belt work, try to adjust the striker bolt attached to the door frame up a bit. Works for me.
I have managed to get every part if the front door panel off but have failed to get the door lock and handle off without braking the locking and pull handle . Can anyone help with this? Unscrew the door latch screw; carefully disconnect it from the mechanism - or can lossen it and remove door panel around it - I was able to do the latter to make it easier.
I take it you are referring to the door ajar switch, which is located on the bottom of the latch assxembly. Yes, the door panel must be removed to gain access to the inside mounted latch. I just did this. The latch assembly is best removed to change out the switch. Not an easy fix - there are four control rods (for the drivers door) and a cable assembly plus a wire harness .attached to the latch. The power door lock motor is also attached and to remove it requires rivets be drilled ouof it and the inside door handle assembly. If your car keeps saying the door is ajar when it is closed you need to spray WD40 into the latch. Its very easy, just open the door and spray WD40 into the latch and close and open the door a few times. This should fix your problem. Make sure you do it to all the doors because they will start to all do the same.
If the question is about the doorknob the answer is "None". And if it not about the doorknob, maybe you should have said what you are referring to!
