A gene is a segment of DNA which codes for a specific protein. Through transcription and translation, a protein is produced and then is used for cell processes.
genes control the cell by controling what proteins are expressed. these proteins could be enzymes, controling what chemical reactions the cell can carry out, structural proteins, controling the physical properties of the cell (shape etc.) or a number of other protein types that can control passage into and out of the cell, storage of molecules and how often the cell devides, to name but a few.

What part of an animal cell acts as the brain or control center of the cell?

The nucleus is the control center of the animal cell. It contains the cell's genetic material (DNA) and regulates cell activities by controlling gene expression.

Which of the following cell structures functions as the control center of the cell?

The nucleus functions as the control center of the cell. It contains the cell's genetic material, DNA, which carries the instructions for the cell's activities and regulates gene expression.

Which organelle holds the DNA and is the control center of the cell?

The nucleus is the organelle that holds the DNA and serves as the control center of the cell. It regulates gene expression, DNA replication, and cell division.

What organelle serves as the control center for the cell metabolism and reproduction?

The nucleus serves as the control center for cell metabolism and reproduction. It contains the cell's genetic material (DNA) and regulates gene expression to coordinate the cell's activities.

In a cell what serves as the control center for cell metabolism and reproduction?

The nucleus serves as the control center for cell metabolism and reproduction in eukaryotic cells. It contains the cell’s genetic material (DNA) and regulates the activities of the cell by controlling gene expression.

What are the master control genes?

Well, inside the cell, chemicals activate the control gene (which is just one specific gene). The gene tells the cell what structures they should become and when. Also the control gene switches on dozens of other genes in the cell, and it also controls the other cells in time and space.

What cell contains DNA and is the control center of the cell?

The nucleus, and the nucleolus. thanks, Steph :)

What are the functions of nuclei?

The main function of the cell nucleus is to control gene expression and mediate the replication of DNA during the cell cycle. The nucleus provides a site for genetic transcription that is segregated from the location of translation in the cytoplasm, allowing levels of gene regulation that are not available to prokaryotes.

What is control center of a cell?

The control center of the cell is the nucleus of the cell. It is where all the genetic material is stored. The genetic material codes for all things, and thus giving the cell and its components its 'instructions'. :]

What the cell nucleus functions?

The cell nucleus functions as the control center of the cell, storing the genetic information in the form of DNA. It regulates gene expression, cell growth, and cell division. The nucleus is surrounded by a nuclear membrane that separates its contents from the rest of the cell.

What serves as the control center for a cell metabolism and reproduction?

The nucleus serves as the control center for cell metabolism and reproduction. It contains the cell's DNA, which holds the instructions for carrying out these processes through gene expression and regulation.
