Heart attacks (myocardial infractions) cause tissues and the cells in part pf the heart to die. They actually block blood flow and that loss of blood will cause the cells and tissues to die. Some of these MIs are not large and scar tissue will form. But some are very large and the heart muscle will actually break apart causing death.
