Heterotrophic Nutrition
A lion gets all the nutrients it need from plants indirectly by eating meat. The prey eats herbs and digests it into nutrients which goes into their muscles, the lion then hunts the prey and eats the muscle and gains the nutrition from the plants they ate.
I'm not a zoologist but I think the mode to feed a lion is A: carefully, and from a distance. B: I believe raw meat is on the menu. I think at the zoos the keepers sort of open a door, put the meat in it, and the open a panel on the other side so the lions can get the food, I know water is piped in some of those open zoos I think feed live prey. But I am not sure.
