It looks the same as every other US cent minted since 1909.
An Australian 1956 Penny looks almost exactly the same as any other Australian Penny minted from 1955 to 1964 inclusive. A 1956 Penny minted in Perth will have a mintmark (.) after the "Y" in PENNY (Y.). The Melbourne Penny has no mintmark. See the 1964 penny at the link below.
A 1927 British Penny looks very similar to all British Pennies minted from 1911 to 1936, other than the date. See the link below and look for the 1936 Penny towards the bottom.
The letter "d" comes from the greek word "dam" and a first look at the word from peter stuyvesant made it clear that it should be minted into the penny
All dimes minted from 1916 through 1945 are the same and are called Mercury Dimes, or also called Winged Liberty Head dimes. I have added a link to a picture of a 1936 dime. The 1935 would look the same expect for the date
It's the year that the coin was minted. If you look under the date you can tell where it was minted, too: "D" = Denver Mint "S" = San Francisco No letter = Philadelphia
