Moose use several methods of communication.

They vocalize with soft grunts to cow moose and loud belows and calls to bulls that can be heard for long distances. They use scent to let other moose know they were there by urination. And the use their Antlers to rub, shake and clatter on trees branches when challenging other bulls during the "rut" or mating season.

Deer communicate mostly through visual cues. They watch each other as they feed and move around. Deer will wag their tails and move their heads in different ways depending on whether there is danger or not. Other deer react to that. When male deer fight, they use a lot of posing and threatening gestures instead of trying to beat each other up.

Deer have a large vocabulary of grunts-bleats- wheezes and snorts. A fawn's distress cry sounds a lot like a crying baby. I have listened to doe grunt and sound a lot like a pig. The snort is very loud and can be heard for a long distance in the woods.

Deer also "talk" by using a variety of scents secreted by glands on their legs and heads. Deer use urine to indicate mating readiness-territory and travel.

Buck deer will also use their horns to "scrape" the bark off of small trees to indicate territory and travel direction.

Deer use "body language" to signal and communicate with other deer. The tail raised high when running indicates danger. The ears lowered and tail lowered indicate submission. Many of these are very similaur to haw dogs communicate with each other.

Deer both male and female can in some fashion communicate with humans to a point...but the conversation is rarely a pleasant one....

Signs that a deer is communicating with a human are very simple,it begins with snorting and a series of bleets, followed by a low toned raspy sounding moan similair to a cow mooing but much lower and raspy...after this initial communication the next sign of cummunication is the deer will lower its head and begin a series of grunts and snorts, next the tail will raise and the grunts will increase and the deer will begin to stomp its front hooves into the dirt....once this occurs the deer may then at any point during the conversation charge at the human and raise up on its hind legs and begin hitting the human with its front hooves which are fairly sharp and very hard...if the deer happens to be a Buck (male) after a few blows from the hooves the deer will then begin to gore the fallen human with its antlers....

It is not unrealistic that a 140 pound Deer could kill a 250 pound human in a matter of just a few minutes....

White Tailed deer use many different ways to communicate. Scent-sound-and sight. Tarsal glands-located on the back of the legs---Metatarsal glands-located between the front "toes"--orbital glands located above the eyes- and several others secrete "smells" that allow a deer to "talk" to other deer. Urine is used to communicate.

Deer are very vocal. They use a wide variety of grunts, wheezes and snorts to communicate.

Deer use their body language to communicate. They will stand stiff and kind of prance away when they are unsure of danger. Their ears are used to signal alert-dominance and submission. Deer will stomp the ground or a tree root to signal other deer.

They will use their tails. Raised to different levels to signal different things. I have even watched them "wag" their tails while playing and greeting other deer.
