i think that if you put a thingy on one side and then a lighter thing on the other side then the heavier side will touch the bottom and the lighter side will go up in the air

The same as a hand saw except it has a motor doing the work instead of your arm.
You will need a saw of some sort: A hand held Key hole saw will work, it will just take some time. Careful use of a large construction saw will do, but a single slip will cause big damage. A circular saw can work. Just be very careful.
