How does a tapir survive?

Best Answer

Tapirs need, in decreasing order of urgency:

1. air (it's actually only the oxygen in the air that they need)

2. water

3. food

4. a suitable environment to live in

5. each other (to reproduce)

That's pretty much it, really. The only reason they're having any problems at all surviving is that, through no fault of their own, they are having to share a planet with a ruthlessly exploitative master-species (you and me) that multiplies like a virus and destroys everything that gets in the way (including the innocent tapirs).

Like all animals, they need oxygen, water, and food, and to eliminate waste. Tapir need air for oxygen, and they need to drink water. They eat a variety of plants for food. These plants live in the tropical rainforest, so tapir need the rainforest.
