for a boy his voice gets lower. for a girl her voice also gets lower

Boys voices may change gently or suddenly during Puberty, some not at all.

The larynx grows longer and stretches the muscles in the throat causing the voice to go lower in tone.

During puberty a boy's Larynx (otherwise known as his Adam's Apple or Voice Box) gets larger, this means that the sounds it produces are lower in pitch, so his voice gets deeper and changes from the higher pitches voice of a boy into the lower pitches voice of a man. The change is usually refered to as a boy's voice breaking.

A boy's voice lowers in pitch as his Larynx (also calleed a Voice Box or Adam's Apple) enlarges during puberty. This is why an adulty has a deeper voive than a young boy. This is usually described as a boy's voice "breaking".

During male puberty, the larynx (vocal cords) lengthen, resulting in a deeper "adult" voice. During this process, it is common for the voice to sound different from one moment to the next.

Why do boys' voices crack during puberty?

A child has a small larynx and thin vocal cords, which creates a higher pitched voice. When boys hit puberty, they have an increase in testosterone, which causes a lengthening of the larynx and a thickening of the vocal cords. And as children grow, the cavities in their noses and throats enlarge, allowing more space for sound to resonate. All these changes combined result in a lowered voice. The whole process takes place gradually, but when there is a period of rapid growth, the muscles involved can struggle to properly control the vocal cords. This causes some boys to experience a “crack” or “squeak” in their voices from time to time. It’s completely normal and usually only lasts a few months.
